Aydan: We were excited, we established bonds, we had friends from different cities and countries. We learned to use Web 2.0 tools. We played fun games. Yağmur: With this project, we learned concepts such as ecosystem, biodiversity, habitat, endemic, species, flora and fauna in English. We learned what we need to do to protect nature. Şükran: During the time we were at home, we learned how to improve our English and how to do a project by doing extracurricular activities. Francisca A: We researched the meaning of biodiversity, ecosystem, endangered species. We understood the benefits of biodiversity to us and why it should be protected.

Melisanaz: As long as we preserve the nature, nature preserves us. Bedriye: By only buying what you need, you reduce waste processing because you’re not generating as much waste. Goncalo T: We must recycle.. It’s pretty obvious , but still relevant. If your school has recycling bins, use them. If they don’t, ask why they don’t. Naz K.: Let’s Start Volunteering You can make an impact on the environment by getting involved with local charities and assisting in the community

Buket: "The world meets enough for everyone's needs, not enough for their extreme desires" Mahatma Gandi. Ece: Biodiversity is essential for human health and well-being, economic prosperity, food safety and security, and other areas critical to all humans. Gabriela: Biodiversity supports ecosystems to provide and purify water. Joao F.: Biodiversity is essential for healthy child nutrition and provides plant, animal and microbial genetic resources necessary for food production and diversified, balanced diets.

İrem S.: We will talk about how to protect environment as a student in our Leopard Team.May be we can’t do huge changes but small tips can be done. Guilherme P.: Strengthen your feet for a clean environment. Walk as much as you can. Go for public transport for long distances This way you will be the money cost in traffic. Serra: Using more water than necessary causes the consumption of natural resources much faster. Take a shower instead of bathing for long hours. Leticia M.: you can take precautions in the lighting area. The lights that are constantly on and off or the whole house are on not only inflate your electricity bill, but also harm the nature.

Mixed Country Teams/ Tiger Team video work/Biodiverstiy elements. Ali: Anything that is not used properly is doomed to deteriorate, become dirty, old and gradually disappear over time. İklim: Biodiversity is defined by four basic elements such as "ecosystem diversity, species diversity, genetic diversity and ecological function (process) diversity". Viyan: We are witnessing a constant loss of biodiversity. Human activities, forests, oceans, lakes and excessive use of land; pollution and increasing global climate change are causing species loss.

Blue Whale Team-our mixed country teams work

Image
Blue Whale Team-our mixed country teams work/Habitat means, types, extinction Ömür: Many animal species in the world faced the danger of extinction. The main source of this problem is that heavy industry wastes pollute the atmosphere and the environment, and accordingly, the increase in global warming. Azra: We will talk about endangered species. Some animal species threatened with extinction in Turkey: •Mediterranean monk seal,Sea turtle, Kelaynak, Caspian tiger, wild cat,red deer. Efe: Many living things rely directly on forests for food and shelter. Cutting down trees to make space for agriculture, ranches, and developments reduces the habitat available to animals that rely on those trees to survive.

ResearchHow does biodiversity impact on children? No one is immune to the adverse impacts of biodiversity loss and degraded ecosystems. Children, in particular, are affected because their bodies are still developing and their behaviour – like playing on the ground or eating dirt – can expose them to more harmful chemicals and organisms. Biodiversity is essential for healthy child nutrition and provides plant, animal and microbial genetic resources necessary for food production and diversified, balanced diets. Biodiversity provides vital ecosystem functions such as soil fertilization, nutrient recycling, pest and disease regulation, erosion control and crop and tree pollination.

Suat Güçlü Secondary School project team students are active in forums, they're sharing their experience and they are writing opinions about topics.
